Sparking transformative growth for art, culture, And community

Linda Harrison brings nearly 25 years of art, cultural, and corporate leadership expertise to transform organizations into dynamic, community-focused institutions that can navigate complex challenges and seize opportunities for growth. She has driven strategic initiatives to elevate museums’ impact, expand audience diversity, increase financial stability, and strengthen community and stakeholder connections.
Drawing from her unique qualifications, Harrison has leveraged museum campus assets by orchestrating mixed-use real estate project development, and established partnerships with legislative, corporate, and non-profit entities. She has a proven record of turning museums into thriving institutional anchor hubs, stimulating active public art engagement, and enhancing organizations’ cultural relevance.
Recognized for her vision and commitment to collaboration and social responsibility, Harrison has built successful regional and national relationships, created inclusive cultural spaces that reflect the richness of their communities—and brought authenticity and joy to the process.
CEO and Cultural Leadership
Harrison has overseen urban museum campuses, managed budgets, and stewarded endowments while increasing attendance and growing earned revenue. She secured unprecedented net annual operating support for organizations from nonprofit, corporate, and government sources. The many initiatives she’s driven include capital improvement, museum gallery renovation, and program enhancements. She has successfully revitalized identity and online presence through comprehensive rebranding. Her leadership has strengthened and increased staff, transformed organizational culture, and driven bold organization-wide recommitments to inclusivity and representation.
Real Estate Project Development
Harrison’s record of effective market expansion and development strategies includes a $112M mixed-use real estate development plan to turn the Newark Museum of Art campus into a vibrant live-work-play city space. Her background as a former Sotheby’s International Realty Vice President and Branch Manager (where she generated $300M in revenues) uniquely equips her to identify opportunities and guide organizations to best leverage their assets. She brokered San Francisco’s most expensive apartment building at the time, and provided strategic and operational oversight for major San Francisco projects including the 4800 Third St. Development and Fillmore Park Development.
Legislative Relationship Planning
Working with the City of Newark’s mayor, Ras J. Barka, Harrison established a thriving downtown Arts and Culture District, while partnering with the New Jersey Performing Arts Center to enhance arts programming and education. She spearheaded the transformation of San Francisco’s underserved neighborhoods through the Inclusionary Affordable Housing Program. Harrison drove transition and rebranding efforts from low-income housing to Stylish Affordable Housing for All, established strategic partnerships with the San Francisco Economic Housing Development Corporation, and facilitated a successful transition with the Mayor’s Office of Housing and Economic Development.
Public Speaking, Advising, and Education
Harrison presents at regional and national conferences including the American Alliance of Museums, Association of Museum Directors, Global Cultural District Network-Switzerland, The Getty Institute, and the San Francisco Foundation. She served as Board Trustee on the American Alliance of Museums, the Association of Art Museum Directors, Regional Planning Authority NY/NJ, and Rutgers Newark University. She also lectures at seminars and workshops across the country for organizations developing new strategies to advance their business.

“Harrison has been nothing short of extraordinary in her leadership at the Newark Museum of Art. In a short time, she reinvigorated its mission, reimagined its role in contemporary art, and remade it to better reflect the diversity of our city and our country.”
